With state revenue down more than $500 million due to COVID-19, the Department of Administrative and Finance Services have passed along a few suggestions to Governor Janet Mills.
“Unemployment claims have been between 60,000 and 100,000 people each week in this crisis and people are pulling back on spending, which means the state sales and income taxes are going to be bringing in a lot less than expected,” said Sarah Austin, a policy analyst at the Maine Center for Economic Policy.
