Garrett Martin, executive director of the Maine Center for Economic Policy, said the data makes the case for continued relief for the low-income families who need it the most.
“It suggests to me that the interventions that have been in place at the federal level are actually working to put money in the pockets of people who both need it and who are more likely to spend it in the economy,” he said. “It is those resources that have really helped to maintain economic activity.”
