At a forum Wednesday night at the University of Southern Maine in Portland, Smalls, a former Amazon worker who now serves as the president of the ALU, spoke about his experience and discussed the future of the labor movement in Maine and around the country.
At the event, which was put together by the Maine Center for Economic Policy, Smalls said organizing a union is an extremely difficult task, especially when facing a corporate behemoth like Amazon. However, he said workers must engage in such campaigns in order to gain any power.
