Data published this week by the Maine Center For Economic Policy shows whether it’s economy, education, health care or criminal justice, systems in the state work better for white residents, and often disenfranchise those of color.
While this reality was already apparent to the MECEP, said policy analyst James Myall, the compilation of data into one document presses home that within the country’s whitest state, there are significant racial inequities, mirroring the same disparities seen on a national level, and sometimes, worse.
