Augusta, Maine (Thursday, June 24, 2010)—The Maine Center for Economic Policy (MECEP) today mourned the death of noted Maine entrepreneur, civic leader, political advisor and advocate for justice, Shepard Lee.
“For more than five decades, Shep Lee has been one of Maine’s foremost advocates for social and economic justice,” said MECEP Executive Director Christopher St. John. “MECEP has been a grateful recipient of his support since the organization’s inception in 1994. Just recently, MECEP sponsored the inaugural Shepard Lee Lecture, inspired by Shep’s life of public service. The staff, the board of directors and everyone associated with MECEP joins me in expressing our deep condolences to the Lee family and our appreciation for his years as a citizen leader and activist in Maine and the nation.”
