This Week on MECEP’s State of the State: “June 8th Ballot: Bonds to Fund Infrastructure Critical to Create Jobs and Grow Maine’s Economy”

Program airs on Time Warner Cable Channel 9 in Central Maine and Aroostook, Cumberland, Washington and York counties, Channel 12 in Penobscot County
 
Augusta, Maine (Monday, May 17, 2010)—The Maine Center for Economic Policy (MECEP) announced today that the latest edition of its weekly cable television program, State of the State, “June 8th Ballot: Bonds to Fund Infrastructure Critical to Create Jobs and Grow Maine’s Economy,” will premier this evening on Time Warner Cable at a special time, 6:30 p.m.  MECEP Executive Director Christopher “Kit” St. John discusses Question s 3, 4 and 5 on the June 8th ballot with Nancy Smith, Executive Director, GrowSmart Maine; Bruce A. Van Note, Deputy Commissioner, Maine Department of Transportation; and Sean Mahoney, Vice President and Director of the Conservation Law Foundation’s Maine Advocacy Center. 

Question 3 authorizes $47.8 million for highways, railroads and marine facilities; Question 4 authorizes $23.75 million for the Communities for Maine’s Future investments in downtowns, preservation of historic properties, fishing, agricultural, dairy and lumbering grants and redevelopment efforts at the Brunswick Naval Air Station; and Question 5 authorizes $10.25 million for clean water projects.
