Maine Center for Economic Policy (MECEP) president and CEO Garrett Martin reacts to the preliminary unveiling of Governor Mills’ budget proposal:
“Maine Center for Economic Policy applauds the Mills administration for initiatives to empower students and ensure more Mainers have financial, health care, and housing support. These endeavors show that we have the resources available to change lives and create thriving communities, and that when we choose to fund improvements to health and economic wellbeing, the entire state prospers.
While the proposed budget reflects the continuation of critical supports for Maine workers, families, and communities, there are many more choices lawmakers can make to create long term tools and opportunities for Maine people.”
